The Commission, by Order No.ÊG-6-97, set down a public hearing into the issue of Retail Access and Unbundled Tariffs to commence AprilÊ1, 1997 in Vancouver, B.C. The Order also set out deadlines for submissions, information requests and requests for participant assistance from Intervenors; and B. Following a MarchÊ26, 1997 request from the Minister of Employment and Investment the Commission, by Order No.ÊG-41-97, adjourned indefinitely the AprilÊ1, 1997 public hearing. The Commission requested applications for participant assistance cost awards to be filed with the Commission by MayÊ16, 1997; and C. The Commission received a recent updated application from Energy Probe Research Foundation for a participant assistance cost award relating to the adjourned public hearing into Retail Access and Unbundled Tariffs; and D. The Commission discussed the participant cost assistance claim having regard to the criteria and rates set out in Order No.ÊG-103-96; and E. The Commission has determined that preparation time for this registered Intervenor requires reimbursement in accordance with approved guidelines. . . . /2
NOW THEREFORE pursuant to Section 118(1) of the Utilities Commission Act, the Commission orders British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority ("B.C.ÊHydro") and West Kootenay Power Ltd. ("WKP") to reimburse Energy Probe Research Foundation in the amount of $13,804.05. The allocation of participant costs is based on the pro-rata energy sales for the previous calendar year as published in the CommissionÕs 1996 Annual Report to the Legislature.
