Barr, Deputy Chair ) and Acting Chair ) October 23, 1997 K.L. Hall, Commissioner ) F.C. Leighton, Commissioner ) O R D E R WHEREAS: A. On October 10, 1997 Centra Gas British Columbia Inc. ("Centra Gas") filed for Commission approval an application to amend its schedule of rates to natural gas customers located on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast, pursuant to SectionsÊ58 andÊ60 of the Utilities Commission Act, the Special Direction by Order in Council No.Ê1510,1995, and under the terms of the Vancouver Island Natural Gas Pipeline Act; and B. Pursuant to the Special Direction, Centra Gas surveyed competitive fuel oil markets on Vancouver Island and reported that a reduction in rates charged to Pioneer Customers under its Closed Rate Schedules is required effective November 1, 1997; and C. Centra Gas advised that Rate RiderÊB, approved by Order No.ÊG-62-97, should be terminated for the Competitive Range Rate ("CRR") class of customers effective OctoberÊ1, 1997 because the full recovery of the deferred revenue has occurred from this class of customers; and D. The Commission has reviewed the OctoberÊ10, 1997 application and finds that approval of the NovemberÊ1, 1997 rate reduction for natural gas service to Centra GasÕ Pioneer Customers (except ACR-1 customers), is necessary and in the public interest. .../2
2 NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. Centra GasÕ application for a reduction in rate levels for natural gas service to Pioneer Customers (SGS-1, SGS-2, LGS-1, LGS-2, LGS-3 and CRR) effective November 1, 1997 is approved. 2. The Commission approves the termination of RiderÊB for CRR customers effective OctoberÊ1, 1997. 3. Centra Gas is to advise all affected customers of the change in rates effective NovemberÊ1, 1997 by way of customer notice.
