an Application by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia

for Universal Compulsory Automobile Insurance Revenue Requirements Applications

Meeting Specified Criteria

O R D E R

 

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On May 12, 2009, the British Columbia Utilities Commission (the Commission) received an application from the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) requesting an Order Specifying the Form and Content of, and Review Process for ICBC’s Universal Compulsory Automobile Insurance Revenue Requirements Applications Meeting Specified Criteria (the Streamlined Regulatory Process Application, or Application);

 

B.      On May 26, 2009, the Commission issued Order G-58-09 setting a Regulatory Timetable.  The Regulatory Timetable was subsequently revised by Orders G-99-09 and G-151-09;

 

C.      The Commission received a Participant Assistance/Cost Award application from the British Columbia Old Age Pensioners' Organization et al. (BCOAPO), dated December 7, 2009, in the amount of $10,024.88;

 

D.      On April 6, 2010, the Commission issued Order G-65-10 that approved the Application subject to various directives contained in the Reasons for Decision attached as Appendix A to the Order;

 

E.       A copy of the BCOAPO Participant Assistance application was sent to ICBC for review.  ICBC subsequently advised the Commission that it had no comments regarding the Participant Assistance application; and

 

F.       The Commission has reviewed the Participant Assistance/Cost Award application and finds it is in accordance with the criteria and rates set out in Order G-72-07, the Participant Assistance/Cost Award Guidelines.

 

 

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 118(1) of the Utilities Commission Act, the Commission grants BCOAPO a Participant Assistance/Cost Award in the amount of $10,024.88.  ICBC is directed to reimburse BCOAPO for the awarded amount in a timely manner.
