O R D E R
WHEREAS:
A. On November 15, 2010 the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) submitted to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (Commission) an application for four Basic Insurance Tariff housekeeping amendments with regards to Rating Territories for U-drive trailers, Rate Class 024, Emergency Motor Vehicle Rate Classes, and Rate Class 120, effective January 1, 2011 (Application);
B. ICBC proposes to amend Schedule A: Territories Page 2 by including U-drive trailers in Rate Classes 550 , 551 and 552 so that U-drive trailers can be rated in the territory where the trailer is primarily located when not in use;
C. ICBC proposes for Rate Class 024 on Schedule B: Vehicle Rate Classes Page 31 to amend the heading of Rate Class 024 to include “with public transportation used for the balance of the journey” which is consistent with the existing vehicle use table for that rate class;
D. ICBC proposes for Emergency Motor Vehicle Rate Classes on Schedule B: Vehicle Rate Classes Page 76 a change to the definition of “Emergency vehicle” by adding another eligible criterion for an ambulance operated by the British Columbia Ambulance Service and a change to the Reminder for the applicable requirement of a permit issued by the Director of Commercial Vehicle Safety. These emergency vehicle amendments reflect and maintain consistency with the relevant changes that have been made in the Motor Vehicle Act Regulation and Motor Vehicle Act;
E. ICBC proposes for Rate Class 120 on Schedule B: Vehicle Rate Classes Page 77 an amendment to clarify the vehicle use for all other dump trucks as distance operated within 160 km;
F. The Commission has considered the Application and finds its approval is warranted.
NOW THEREFORE the Commission approves ICBC’s Application of four housekeeping amendments to the Basic Insurance Tariff, effective January 1, 2011.
